Fire Destroys Town After Man Allegedly Tests Out Trick From TV Show

Officials say an entire town went up in flames because someone was trying to imitate something he saw on television. Businesses have been destroyed and 18 families are now homeless after the blaze in Cohoes, NY, which happened Thursday. John Gomes, 51, was trying to make something in a hot flame at his home. He was inspired by ‘Forged in Fire’ on History, where contestants make knives and swords out of red hot metal. Gomes built a fire in a barrel in the backyard of his apartment building.
