Rosalie Avila's parents believe she was bullied at school and say they have now become the targets.
A young teen whose suicide attempt has left her on life support penned her parents a heartbreaking note.
"Sorry, Mom and Dad. I love you," read the note left by 13-year-old Rosalie Avila last week. "Sorry, Mom, you’re gonna find me like this."
The family, from Yucaipa, Calif., said they plan to take Rosalie off life support Monday night and donate her organs.
Rosalie's parents, Charlene and Freddie Avila, who recalled the wrenching note to reporters, believe their daughter was the victim of bullying before her decision to attempt to end her own life.
"They told me I was ugly today," her father Freddie said the eighth grader wrote in her journal. "They were making fun of me today about my teeth."
According to CBS Los Angeles, the parents have turned Rosalie’s journal over to the police.
Meanwhile, the Avilas say the bullying has been turned on them.
The couple says they received a received a message on social media after Rosalie's attempted suicide with photos of Rosalie saying, "Hey mom. Next time don’t tuck me in this," over a bed alongside the words "Tuck me in THIS," with an arrow pointing to an open grave.
"For you to do that, I mean, you’re heartless. You’re a very heartless person, and you have no compassion," Charlene Avila said, addressing whoever is behind the message.
As her organs help those in need, Rosalie's father says he hopes her tragedy will be a wake-up call to schools.
"I did everything I’m supposed to do as a father, and these people did not respond, because those bullies are still at the school," Freddie Avila said. "They’re still there, and my daughter’s gone."
A memorial GoFundMe page has been established to help with costs of Rosalie’s burial. On the page, the heartbreaking message from Rosalie's mom reads:
My daughter is a victim of bullying. She was a beautiful person inside and out. She was a great artist, very lovable & loving. Her smile would light up the whole room with her laughter. She’s very smart and always had good grades. She loved the beach & liked going out to the snow. Rosalie had a great personality and was very funny. She enjoyed reading and liked dressing up as her favorite characters like “Belle” from “Beauty and the Beast” & Stitch. She liked watching “The Walking Dead," Stranger Things” & “Meet the Fosters.” She always remembered her friends' birthdays and would go out of her way to get them a gift. She truly cared about people. She loved to drink hot cocoa while she watched her favorite shows or movies. She’s loved by so many people & by her family. She was daddy’s girl and mommy’s princess. She wanted to be a lawyer and wanted to help the world to be a better place. The world lost a treasure. We ask kindly with any donations from anyone willing to help us to bury our beloved daughter and with medical expenses for Rosalie Avila, From an unexpected tragic lost. We thank you all for your support and blessings.
