Trump's Slurred Words During Historic Jerusalem Speech Ignite Speculation Over His Health, Dentures

The White House blamed "dry mouth" for his speech difficulties.

Those tuning in to President Trump's Jerusalem speech Wednesday saw a different side of the commander in chief, who was slurring his words as he delivered his remarks from the White House.

The mystery behind the president's slurred words caused quite a ruckus on social media.

Many have speculated that he was wearing loose dentures at the time of the speech, while others wondered whether he was having a stroke.

The hosts of MSNBC’s Morning Joe suggested he was having a medical emergency. The ladies of The View believed he was wearing dentures that had come loose.

That belief was shared by Trevor Noah, the host of The Daily Show, who created the hashtag #DentureDonald and sarcastically urged fans to “not retweet” it.

"I really think that he is wearing a denture and that denture is either ill fitting or it is slipping out of his mouth and that is causing his slurred speech," Dr. Nancy Rosen, a dentist in New York City, told Inside Edition.

Over the years, Trump’s teeth have gone from slightly crooked when he was a young tycoon to perfectly straight and blindingly white. According to one report his real teeth are covered with porcelain veneers to create that smile.

"If they are glued on properly, they should really be staying in place, but most of the time people do not have slurred speech from veneers," Dr. Rosen said.

The White House says his garbled speech was nothing more than a case of “dry mouth” and that his “throat was dry,” and added, "There is nothing to it."

Dry mouth is an actual medical condition that affects many Americans as they age.
