26 Girls on Afghanistan National Soccer Team Granted Asylum in Portugal

It’s a new beginning for these young soccer players. They’re members of Afghanistan’s girls national soccer team and they recently left their homeland after being granted asylum in Portugal. The girls, who are all between the ages of 14 and 16, have been trying to leave Afghanistan since the Taliban retook control of the country after U.S. forces left, ending a 20-year war. The Taliban has pledged to ban girls and women from playing sports. Inside Edition Digital’s Mara Montalbano has more.
