Steve Sparkes, a 57-year-old retired Marine, just completed his trek from California to Hawaii by boat without the ability to see! It was a 2,400-mile race and it was hardly smooth sailing. Along the way, he and his rowing mate, Mick Dawson, broke two oars and the boat capsized.
