Former Apollo 8 Astronaut Dies in Plane He Was Flying

Retired American Astronaut William Anders has died. The member of the famed Apollo 8 crew was killed in a plane crash off of Washington state. Authorities say he was flying the plane. From the Apollo 8’s perch, Anders took the iconic "Earthrise" photo, the first color photo of the Earth from space. Anders is survived by his wife, six children and 13 grandchildren. William Anders was 90 years old.
