Belgian Teen Zara Rutherford Wants to Be Youngest Woman to Fly Around the World

Nineteen-year-old Zara Rutherford will soon embark on a record-breaking adventure. The Belgian teen wants to be the youngest woman to fly solo around the world. Zara hopes her journey will encourage girls and young women interested in science and technology. She told Reuters her goal was to “hopefully inspire other girls to try and beat my record and then go and start competing with the boys." Her 32,000-mile trip begins on August 11.
