Disgraced attorney Alex Murdaugh testified he sometimes took 60 painkillers a day during his murder trial. Addiction specialist Dr. Drew Pinsky says his patients, on average, are in the range of 30 to 60 pills a day. He says taking that many pills might cause some people to "start thinking things are good ideas to get the drugs that they would never do in a sober state." He continues, "it turns people potentially into monsters, in terms of who they become, but I've never seen it turn somebody into a killer."
