    Darrell Alston was incarcerated for more than six years after using his earnings from a record label deal to fund the sale of drugs. Before prison, in the late 1990s, the aspiring rapper opened for the likes of Lil’ Kim and Jermaine Dupri, but he says his first love was fashion. In jail, he made more than 250 sketches of shoes and even created a business plan after realizing it would be difficult to get hired because of his criminal record.
