New Mexico School Buses Deliver Food and Supplies to Navajo Nation Students
November 26, 2020
Even with no students on board, the wheels on these busses are still going round and round. Despite distance learning, eleven bus drivers from New Mexico’s Cuba Independent School District are still driving almost 900 miles daily to student’s homes. Rather than picking up kids, they are dropping off lesson plans and much needed supplies. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, 40% of the families in this school district are on food stamps and 60% are living below the poverty level.
