Two women had a life-changing chance encounter at 30,000 feet. Samantha Snipes, 24, was 8 months pregnant and fleeing an abusive relationship when she missed a connecting flight in Atlanta on her way to Raleigh. She was rebooked next to Temple Phipps, who was supposed to take a later flight. The two instantly hit it off. Snipes had been searching for someone to adopt her unborn child. Phipps had been trying to adopt, but as a single woman, she was being rejected by adoption agencies.
