Ballerina Found Guilty of Treason in Russia

A Russian American woman charged with treason in Russia has been found guilty and sentenced to prison. Ksenia Karelina became a US citizen in 2021. She was born in Russia, but lived in the United States for about a decade. The Russian courts sentenced Karelina to 12 years in a penal colony, and have imposed a fine of 300,000 Russian rupees, about $3356 US dollars, followed by a year and a half of probation. Lawyers for Ksenia Karelina say she plans to appeal the court's decision.
