South Korea President Declares Martial Law

South Korea was thrown into turmoil after President Yoon Suk Yeol declared martial law. In a live, surprise late-night address to the nation, President Yoon said he was instituting martial law in order to, "eradicate the despicable pro-North Korean anti-state forces that are plundering the freedom and happiness of our people, and to protect the free constitutional order." In response, South Korea's parliament voted to defy President Yoon and immediately lift the martial law declaration.
