US Senate Chaplain Barry C. Black Prays With Joint Session in Washington, DC
January 7, 2021
Barry C. Black, Chaplain of the U.S. Senate, gave a moving prayer after congress officially affirmed President-elect Joe Biden in the early morning of Jan. 7. The tally was postponed for several hours after pro-Trump supporters broke into the Capitol, causing congress to go into lockdown. “We deplore the desecration of the United States Capitol building. The shedding of innocent blood. The loss of life. And the quagmire of dysfunction that threatens our democracy,” Black said.
