The whole world was watching as the verdict was handed down from the jury in ex-cop Derek Chauvin’s murder trial in the case of the death of George Floyd. The United Kingdom, Australia, Vietnam and Germany all covered the monumental decision, which many hope is the turning point in American policing. Lora King watched the verdict, but the moment had special meaning for her. She’s the daughter of Rodney King, whose beating 30 years ago triggered rioting after the four cops were acquitted.
