Tips for Keeping Your Food Safe During a Power Outage
If you have no electricity during a storm, you need to make a quick decision about your food. After you lose power, the fridge should keep cool for about four hours and the freezer should be cold for around 48 hours. Meats, eggs, fish and vegetables need to be thrown out if your fridge is over 40 degrees for more than two hours. Items, like mustard and ketchup, can stay but any creamy dressing should also be thrown away.
