Audience Members Cry Upon Whoopi Goldberg’s Return to ‘The View’

Whoopi Goldberg surprised her castmates on “The View” Thursday after battling pneumonia for weeks. Lots of hugs and tears followed as the host returned to the set for the first time since Feb. 5, when she became gravely ill. “They had to pump a lot of stuff out of me,” she said Thursday. Goldberg said she got permission from her doctors to stop by the show for Thursday’s broadcast. However, her immune system is still challenged, she said, and she was still coughing.
