Coast Guard Searches for Dozens Missing After California Boat Catches Fire
September 2, 2019
Dozens of people are missing after a boat fire in Southern California. The Conception, a 75-foot-long dive boat, was only yards from Santa Cruz Island when the fire broke out. U.S. Coast Guard Captain Monica Rochester told reporters, “The crew was actually already awake and on the bridge and they jumped off,” she said. But 34 other people who were on the boat remain unaccounted for. The Coast Guard is “conducting shoreline searches for any available survivors," Rochester added.
