Colin Powell Dies at 84 of Complications From Blood Cancer and COVID-19

Colin Powell, the first Black U.S. Secretary of State, died Sunday from complications stemming from COVID-19, his family said. He was 84, and vaccinated, but had been battling a blood cancer which severely weakens the immune system. The son of Jamaican immigrants in Harlem, New York, Powell entered the U.S. Army in 1958 and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was instrumental in shaping U.S. military strategy from the 1980s until the end of the 2000s
