Florida Man No Longer Has to Sleep on Roof in Protest

Rick Loughery spent weeks on the roof of his garage protesting a FEMA mandate. Loughery is a Hurricane Ian survivor. In order to rebuild his destroyed house, FEMA said his laterally attached garage, that withstood the storm, had to be demolished. But a few weeks later, that’s all changed. Rick on the Roof, as locals started to call him, says he’ll get to keep his garage. The mayor of Ft. Myers, Florida, says he’s pleased the state floodplain manager changed their mind.
