Protesters Want Illegal Miners Returned From Abandoned Mine

A standoff between police and illegal miners has gotten heated in South Africa. Reports say hundreds of illegal miners, who entered an abandoned mine in search of leftover gold, refuse to come out for fear they may be arrested. A crowd of supporters gathered near the mine to ask for their safe exit. Reports say about a thousand miners have resurfaced in the past few weeks and it's unclear how many are still underground.
