Workers Use Dish Soap to Clean Oil-Drenched Great Horned Owl in California
Workers in Southern California had to use dish soap and warm water to help clean a great horned owl. The young bird of prey had managed to fall into an oil pit. After he was rescued, he was brought in to the Santa Barbara Wildlife Care Network for treatment. Oil washings take a lot of time and human handling, and the network says animals find the treatment very stressful. The owl was carefully moved from tub to tub while specialists removed the gunk from its feathers.
