Sheep Invade Pompeii to Help Keep Vegetation Under Control

A flock of sheep has taken over Pompeii, but that’s only so weeds don’t take over first. The director of the archeological park says about 150 sheep are keeping vegetation under control in Regio V, a massive part of the site that has yet to be uncovered. The sheep are eating the plants that try to overcome the structures. In the 250 years since the excavation of Pompeii began, two-thirds of the city has been dug up.
