    19-Year-Old Navy Seaman Laid to Rest in California 80 Years After Death

    Many teens these days cannot imagine going off to war, but Navy Seaman 1st Class Wallace Mitchell did just that. He was from Los Angeles and was only 19 years old when the USS Oklahoma, the ship he was assigned to, was bombed in Pearl Harbor. Despite military efforts at the time, the remains of only 35 of the Oklahoma’s crew were identified. 80 years later, advances in technology have made it easier to bring American soldiers and seamen home. Seaman Mitchell will be buried in San Diego
