Even before the coronavirus lockdown, activist groups said conditions were squalid at the Moria camp in Greece. Asylum seekers from places like Afghanistan and Turkey have been living at the refugee camp, but the COVID-19 pandemic made conditions worse. Some, upset at a quarantine order after nearly three dozen people tested positive for the virus, reportedly set fire to the Moria camp, where more than 12,000 people had been living.
