Are Celebrity Suicides Contagious?

Suicide is now the 10th leading cause of death in the U.S. Following the deaths of stars like Anthony Bourdain and Kate Spade, people are wondering if celebrity suicide deaths lead to more suicides. In many cases, the answer is yes. When iconic sex symbol Marilyn Monroe took her own life in 1962, the suicide rate in the U.S. jumped 12 per cent. Psychiatrist Gail Saltz says even fellow celebrities can get obsessed. Spade was reportedly fixated with the 2014 death of Robin Williams.
