210-Pound Bear Spotted in Area for 1st Time in 20 Years

A 210-pound bear is making its home in California’s Santa Monica Mountains. The National Park Service says this is the first time in 20 years a Black Bear has made this part of Southern California home. He’s been named BB-12. Researchers got an up close look at him on April 23rd when BB-12 was captured and fitted with a radio collar. Vets estimate BB12 is around 3 or 4 years old. Now wildlife researchers are wondering how BB12 will interact with his new neighbors.
