August’s High Temperatures Make Summer 2023 Hottest on Record

The phrase hot girl summer must have been coined for Mother Earth. The European Union says last month was the hottest August on record, following the hottest-ever July and June. This past August wasn’t as bad as July, which was the hottest month ever recorded, but August’s high temperatures put this summer in the books as the Northern Hemisphere’s hottest summer since record-keeping started in 1940.
