Ex-NHL Player Dies in Freak Accident on Ice

Kari Johnson was home in Minnesota watching a livestream of her nephew, former NHL player Adam Johnson, taking part in a professional game in England. That's when Johnson’s neck was slit by an opponent’s ice skate. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police are investigating the tragedy, calling it "standard practice with all unexpected and sudden deaths." After the shocking news, the NHL is in discussions about whether or not neck guards should be required for all players.
