Ex-UCLA Gynecologist Accused of Sexually Abusing Patients

Former UCLA gynecologist Dr. James Heaps is on trial, facing 21 counts of sexually assaulting his former patients. He was reportedly one of the highest-earning physicians at the medical center. Former patients say Heaps took advantage of them at their most vulnerable moments and subjected them to unnecessary pelvic exams for his sexual gratification. Since his arrest, UCLA has agreed to pay over $700 million to settle claims made by over 5,000 former patients.
