James Byrd Jr.'s 1998 Murderer Set to Be Executed in April

    February 26, 2019

In June, 1998, James Byrd Jr. was on his way to his Jasper, Texas, home when an encounter with three white supremacists would forever change the course of history. After accepting a ride from the men, they defecated on and viciously beat Byrd, before chaining Byrd's ankles to their pick up truck and dragging him for three miles. Investigators say he was alive for most of it, dying after he was decapitated about half way through the trip. Now, the last convict in the killing is scheduled to be executed this spring.
