Live Civil War Cannonball Kept as a Family Souvenir for Generations

Maryland State Fire Marshals just exploded a Civil War-era cannonball. It had been kept as an heirloom and passed through generations without anyone knowing the steel sphere was a live explosive. The fire marshals, however, didn't actually plan to blow up the ball — It was during their testing process to determine what was inside when the explosive went off.
