Melania Trump Places Wreath at Site in Ghana Once Used for Trading Slaves
October 3, 2018
It was a somber second day in Africa for first lady Melania Trump as she toured a castle in Ghana that was once used for trading slaves. She walked through the dungeons where thousands of Africans were held in captivity. The Cape Coast Castle is where Africans were kept naked and chained as they were held before being placed on the ships. As part of the tour, the first lady passed through the "door of no return," where the slaves boarded ships that would take them across the Atlantic to America.
