Police who shot Walter Wallace, Jr. dead in Philadelphia were called to the home three times that day to help deal with his mental health crisis. Fourteen shots were fired by the two officers on the scene, neither of whom had tasers due to “budget issues,” according to the police commissioner. Police in full tactical riot gear faced off with protesters in Philadelphia as violence and looting occurred in some parts of the city. Wallace’s mother says she pleaded for police not to shoot her son.
