Teen Who Tossed Baby Sentenced to 16 Years in Prison

The New Mexico teen who tossed her newborn in a dumpster spoke before a judge minutes before sentencing. “I regret I had to miss out on every first milestone the baby had and deprived him of a mother and love,” Alexis Avila said in the courtroom. Avila was found guilty of attempted murder. The baby survived the frigid temps. The judge issued a 16-year sentence, which is 2 less than the maximum sentence. Inside Edition Digital has more.
