January 8, 2024
A history-making rocket, called the Vulcan Centaur, took off from Cape Canaveral on Jan. 8th. The rocket launched the first privately made lunar lander. United Launch Alliance, an American aerospace manufacturer and defense contractor, launched the Vulcan carrying the Peregrine lander, built by another private tech company, Astrobotic. NASA reportedly paid Astrobotic $108 million to carry scientific instruments to the Moon. It should take Peregrine 46 days to reach the Moon.
