Firefighters Dodged Bats to Rescue Man Trapped in Mine

Firefighters battled darkness and rain to rescue a man trapped in a mine. Five people went exploring in mines that had been sealed off from the public in Brewster, New York. Fire officials say one of the men “became trapped on a lower ledge.” Two firefighters were then lowered into the mine to extract the person from the mine shaft. Rescuers say they had to dodge bats just to reach him. Authorities say the man was uninjured.
