NYPD Rookie Promoted to Detective for Heroics During Harlem Shooting

When Officers Jason Rivera and Wilbert Mora responded to a call about a domestic dispute in Harlem in January, a horrific string of events unfolded. The suspect who they were called about unloaded his rifle on them, killing Officer Rivera. Mora died days later. A third officer, 27-year-old Sumit Sulan shot the suspect, putting an end to the violence. Now, he has received a special promotion for his efforts.
