13,000-Pound Young Gray Whale Dies on California Beach
March 18, 2024
Beachgoers were warned to stay away after a gray whale washed onto the shores of southern California. The California Wildlife Center says they received a call about a distressed whale, but that the young male died before it could be moved back into the water. Right now, officials say the approximately 13,000 pound whale is wedged in the sand. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the California Wildlife Center are working together to formulate a plan for next steps.
