Though many stores have been closed for in-person shopping this year, that hasn’t slowed the consumer economy from booming while people have been stuck at home. It’s called pandemic shopping, and lots of people are buying as a form of coping with the emotions brought on by the pandemic, says financial therapist Carrie Rattle. Carrie is working with two college students who have become obsessive shoppers. Many of the items they buy, like clothes and shoes, oftentimes go unused.
