Real-Life “Wizard of Oz’: Tornado Rips Woman’s House From Foundation

The scene in “The Wizard of Oz” where Dorothy’s house is lifted off the ground is a classic, but most people wouldn’t like to live it. But Erika Van Sweringen’s house was ripped from its foundation by a tornado, and was sent flying. Erika was lucky enough to survive, and told Inside Edition, “I felt weightless.” When she took stock of the damage, Erika saw that the house had been moved a whole six feet and was uninhabitable. Still, she was able to find humor in the situation.
