Single Mom of 2 Raising Money for Her Funeral Has Died
A mom of two planning her own funeral has died. Erika Diarte-Carr from Salt Lake City, Utah was a single mom to kids ages 7 and 5. She loved dancing and lip-syncing to songs. In 2022, she was diagnosed with small cell lung carcinoma, a rare cancer, followed by Cushing Syndrome in 2024. "I have looked into the expenses and I am needing to raise about $5,000 to ensure funeral costs are covered plus I’m wanting to leave something behind for my babies," Erika posted on a GoFundMe account she started. It has since raised nearly $1.2 million.
