US Couple Getting Surrogate Baby From Ukraine Also Brought Home Another Child

This couple is relieved to be back in the United States following an exhaustive journey out of Ukraine with their newborn. War broke out just as Michael and Ami Kowalski’s Ukrainian surrogate went into labor on February 24. Baby Charlotte was born February 26, and when she was just five hours old, the Kowalskis began their trek out of Ukraine with not only Charlotte, but also a 4-day-old baby girl of another American couple who couldn’t get to Ukraine to pick her up.
