    Volunteer Shortage Creates Hardship for Charities

    Volunteers can be a lifeline for non-profit organizations, but statistics say the people are not showing up to help. Formal volunteerism in the United States dropped 7% between 2019 and 2021, according to a U.S. Census Bureau and AmeriCorps survey. That’s the largest drop-off recorded since this survey started in 2002. During the height of the pandemic, people were encouraged to shelter in place, but for those in need, the hardships continued.
