Meet Homeless College Professor Who Lives in Her Car

Ellen James-Penney loves being an English professor. But when she leaves work at San Jose State University, she heads home to her car. Believe it or not, she’s not the only professor living this way. Michelle Mitchell, an adjunct professor of religion at Florida’s Broward College, lives out of a van. For both these dedicated teachers, the fear of being homeless takes a backseat to the fear of leaving the profession they love.
