The attack on the Capitol is being called one of the darkest days in American history, and the whole world is watching. Global leaders have reacted with disgust after Trump extremists, some armed, bombarded the U.S. Capitol trying to halt congressional certification of the 2020 election, which was won by Democrat Joe Biden. Meghan McCain called the insurrectionists “scum of the earth” and former Alaska governor Sarah Palin scoffed at the idea that the rioters were calling themselves “patriots.”
