California Declares Drought Emergency
December 15, 2022
The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California has declared a drought emergency for the entire region. Since it doesn’t rain much in the area, most of SoCal’s water is brought in from the Colorado River and the Sierra Nevada, but both have seen record lows in water and snow pack. Saving water starts with cutting back on non-essential usage. Officials say, if California doesn’t get a wet winter, about 20 million people will see mandatory water cutbacks.
