11-Year-Old Girl and Dad Find 202 Million-Year-Old Fossil
April 22, 2024
A father and daughter duo found a fossil that may change what scientists know about prehistoric animals. Justin Reynolds and 11-year-old Ruby found pieces of fossilized bone on the beach in Somerset, England, in 2020. Those pieces turned out to be from the jaw of what researchers now believe was one of the largest animals ever to live on Earth. The bones were from a marine reptile called ichthyotitan severnensis. Experts say the ichthyotitan could have measured about 82 feet long.
